The vast arid landscape of the Sahara desert offers the sanctuary of oases in sparing locations. Often, oases exist as a result of underground rivers or aquifers, where water rises to the surface by pressure or the creation of wells. This painting captures an oasis reflecting mountainous dunes and perimeter vegetation. The word Oasis from Ancient Greek translates as "dwelling place", which interprets well into English considering that the home is generally the place of sanctuary for most.
